well well well

look what the wind blew in
one little bird on a big black tree
singin his sweet night song to me

sitting in the dark I can hear him call
or click and roll his tongue

and i wonder

now what have i done
i chuckle and whisper my response to the shadows
and he sits and waits like he's not sure he's satisfied with my answers

the moons just a sliver...a slice of light in the dark
i sit outside and pick noises apart
i can hear him moving
along the branch
watching me
waiting
will my answers pass?
because if he's not satisfied....oh will he wait
rather than take them back too early and be handed his ass on a plate.   laughs.

i pretend not to notice....lighting my smoke
i lean back on the step and then my head back
stare up at the sky and find a few stars
and after a minute
...i hear him again caw

it's almost a growl at me!
i swear that it is
but i laugh just the same
because it's just his old game
he checks on me
takes notes
and reports back to a shade of odin

i'll sit here and wait
what choice do i have
evolving and growing
trying not to gauge which way the wind is blowing
to just let it flow around me like a river
sweep me up and around and away where it wishes
i try to let go....just hang on for the ride
strands curl in the wind and i watch them like smoke
quite some grey in there now...i think with a grin
and suddenly  in there somewhere
i wonder

am i really what i think i am

so few are, i imagine,
and blink
but i shake my head and close my eyes to the night
and my heart sighs long and i know that i'm right
 the signs are there
and have been for so long
i don't remember a time i couldn't decipher the night song
or the sound of a raven...or a big ass black crow
or other kindred to ravens.....
at least one kind anyway

a little more dangerous
a little more dark
their cunning and loyalty pumps through their heart
and so smart...
people over look that you know....  they think with their fear
but if you know what to look for you can see it in there
their fierceness...that strength...will have you stopping in tracks for a glimpse of that spirit
that subtle undercurrent of attack
but you see it in eyes
you see it in their stare
that they are a kind you know from somewhere
and they recognize it in you...you can see that too
tho no words will ever do

i wonder if everyone can see it...just there...the light hits their eyes and your paralyzed somewhere
or ...how in a particular photo it truly feels...
that if you moved ...
their eyes might move for real

and in person?
hmm
forget it
your toast
don't try
they'll lock down and have you squirming under that watchful eye
a curious kindred, this particular breed
never tamed
but there in any time of need
no matter how wild
no matter how daunting
across veils and worlds
how much time is too far?
the kind that will find you wherever you are

but now I've gone and gotten off track

or have i

the crow just left....

let's see how long it takes him to get back

Civility or civil war? What are we about for real?

‎"slavery can only exist in the context of a police state,
and the enforcement of that police state was the explicit job of the militias" -

so as I read this I wondered -
is it the government trying to enslave us with their ideals of what gun ownership should look like in present times?

Or is it those people who consider themselves part of the 'militia', just because they have a gun; not because they were appointed to the militia referred to in the second amendment.....and so that they can own their own personal arsenal- are they really the ones keeping us enslaved by the subtle threat of civil war if any talk of changing anything to do with guns happens?

Because I'm sort of sick of that threat.

We are supposed to be a democracy. If the majority of the people decide this is what we want, then no one has the right to threaten the peace and stability of the nation by going against the majority and making up their own rules...like certain Sheriff's that I've read are refusing to follow the new laws.

Isn't that defying your oath to serve "we the people?"
And are the gun people that threaten civil war only 'we the people' when we agree with you?
Because that's certainly one sided.

We are a funny democracy. We are almost so constantly split down the middle that we should just split up the US into two parts and everyone go about their business. ha.

Btw, trying to make sure the kind of weapons that can wipe out numerous people in one fell swoop doesn't mean the 'gov't is coming to take your guns away'. This is going to be a long process of figuring out what works for the whole nation. However, It does mean it needs to be much much harder to get a gun. And there need to be better rules for those than own them...because we all know there are plenty of unstable people that already own guns.

I bet everyone I know knows someone who's a little edgy or aggressive and owns a gun..or have at some point. I'm not saying noone should have a gun....nor do I think that's what the government wants.

IMO the conspiracy theorists out there that have attacked the people of Newtown should be ashamed...
and everyone should just calm the hell down so we can have productive conversations about this rather than being so ready to battle with your own countrymen.

Sandy Hook Sweethearts and why getting a gun is out of control

article from a mother whose child needs help "i am adam lanza's mother'
I live in America and come from a family that was in the military and hunted and always had a gun in the house.  My father used it to intimidate us sometimes when he'd been drinking.  I was taught very young how to shoot, it was a tradition when we camped.  Granted, it taught me the power of a gun and how to use one...but I hate them.

Now I keep hearing people say if civilians are packing, these things wouldn't happen...but responsible civilians don't carry around firearms on a daily basis for no reason. Are we suggesting that is what we should do now?

Everyone carry and it will stop people from trying to get away with things like this latest massacre? We are not in control enough of our emotions in general for that to be a safe bet. I think we'd have a bunch of trigger nervous self imposed vigilantes and it could go very very badly, rather than everyone feeling more secure.

I think everyone would be paranoid about who was carrying and who was stable and the energy would build to a really explosive point and that we'd feel safer knowing that it's damn near impossible to get a gun, and to keep one you have to go through insanely detailed examinations to be sure you were mentally acceptable and morally responsible to carry one. An investigation into your whole life. If you've got nothing nasty, vindictive, dangerous, or unstable to hide...then sure....you can have a gun. A reasonable one....relative to the use you need it for, not armed for your own personal arsenal. ok. getting off the soapbox now. Just so affected by this, when I was about 10, (I'm 41 now) my first boyfriend's brother accidentally shot himself in the head with his father's gun. He was a police officer and had gotten the new gun as a Christmas present. The babysitter was late....(my brother and sister and I were out of town at our Grandma's house) and the boys got out the gun to play cops and robbers with. Apparently Jeff..the 8 yr old...was pretending the cops were going to get him and turned the gun on himself not knowing it was loaded and able to shoot. His older brother ran to my parents house and got my them, who ran up there and saw the awful results and tried to give him CPR, but it was too late. They moved just after that.

I remember small things like going to the house after they'd left and standing on a rock to look in the window and try to remember Jeff and see if I could see anything relative to his death...morbid maybe, but I was a child. We'd hung out with these kids daily..all day. I remember my parents showing up to my Grandma's house in the middle of the night upset, and the next morning my brother said something about being glad Jeff hadn't joined us in something the week before..and my father replied that Jeff wouldn't be joining us at all anymore, and then told us what happened. I remember the buzzing in my ears as he told us, and the confusion and the feeling of quiet and emptiness on what used to be a vibrant street full of kids playing. I know it took me years for me to act 'normal' about the kids wanting to be like their friends and pretend to shoot the bad guys...as long as they never pretend shot at themselves or anyone real...I could live with it. And then came the video games that were like blasting people into small bits of gore, and all the kids want to do it and pretend to be these great warriors with massive amounts of weapons to wipe out as many people as they can. I'm still not ok with it. When my son's PS3 died last year, secretly I rejoiced (sorry honey) because it was obvious that his agression went up when he played but he didn't see anything wrong with it. I'm not a prude by any means...and I know life is hard. Very, very well. But something in me says...enough with the crazy access to guns for anyone...enough with people with no morals making it easy to get guns on the internet...enough with us not really caring if games to kill are mass marketed for profit regardless of the loss to our spirits and humanity. ok now I'm really getting off the soapbox. I don't know if you bothered to read all of this but if you did....I love you for it. xxxxx

be well wanderers and gypsies
and tiny little people who are now afraid if someone will storm their school
and all the teachers that have to endure 'lockdown training'
and all the sweet sweet babies that left this plane that day
and all the brave heroic teachers that tried to save them
the ones that gave their lives...and the ones that saved lives and made it through to the other side to now have to face the horror and put on brave faces of support for the kids that were there and this devasated community

my deepest, most genuine, most heartfelt love to you all

it's the media, and you, not the DJ's or the hoax aka get the hell off the snark bandwagon

don't you people realize
there has been many a prank played like this one
really it was harmless, and funny - before someone got hurt.

don't lie..how many of you laughed or thought ohh busted, or made a smartass comment? and i wonder how many of those same people that thought it was innocent and funny before she took her life, and helped it go around the globe, then sent hate mail to the DJ's.....

they didn't mean anything by it you know.
how dare you all speak to them as if they should now die - seriously??
will you be satisfied when you have BULLIED THEM the same way you BULLIED Jacintha until they have taken their lives? will the mouth of the beast then be silenced or will you then berate yourselves..or the media...who will be the next target. and eye for an eye until the whole world is blind eh?

who could know that just getting past someone's guard would fly around the globe like this? a hoax that, in times past, would have possibly resulted in a few laughs that didn't get much further than Australia and possibly the UK for a bit...the US may have even picked up on it for a moment. But now, it flies around the entire world faster than the speed of light...and the flashing lights of smart ass comments for a tired, but kind and efficient, nurse's mistake filled the sky like a million stars -
each one piercing her skin anew until she couldn't take it anymore. so so sad. but the DJ's didn't want that. they couldn't forsee she was in that place....

you could see in pictures of her she was tired already...i could see it
who knows if she was already battling depression or struggling...or just tired from giving so much of herself to others for so long. and making a simple mistake like this could just as easily have turned into blushing and laughing at yourself and ohhh i'm so sorry, and the royals aren't angry with you and your not in trouble at work so it blows over and is no big deal

instead we have a woman who was totally drowning in the tidal wave of the worlds opinion of her mistake and it was too much

it was YOU...you see? you and the media...not the simple hoax, and not the misguided DJ's who truly didn't think they'd get through on the phone or that she would actually do something so shocking as take her own life and destroy so many other lives in the process over a joke. and don't go on about it being a bad joke...it was funny until someone got hurt, like all jokes.

and now the beast turns its jaws on the DJ's....who i've read are shattered by this. of course they are...they are in it for the laughs. not for destroying people. they certainly didn't think anything like this would happen....or that she would literally be BULLIED TO DEATH by the media and the world

so now it turns on them and they feel the weight of the heat and the anger and the super snark of the media and the world as they cry together with their families and friends and each other, for the nurse and knowing now what she went through...devastated that such an innocent prank could turn out like this.

and do we show them any compassion?

can we not look into their faces and see their pain as well and hug them and tell them we know you didn't mean anything like this to happen....and we are so sorry that something relatively innocent turned out so badly. can we not surround them with love as they learn from this terrible lesson the same way that we should surround Jacintha's family with love as they also deal with the fallout from this terrible mistake?

surely the media and the public should take a look at themselves and how everyone thinks nothing of letting their comments fly...but it's not just one comment anymore people. it becomes hundreds, and then thousands, and then hundreds of thousands and more in no time at all. and you bury people until they can't breathe

are you going to be satisfied when you've destroyed two more people?

i read that now the hospital is calling the hoax 'appalling' and i laughed.
the hoax itself wasn't appalling...has anyone looked up the definition of that word? the treatment of the nurse afterwards was appalling...and the way people are treating the DJ's now is appalling. But the hoax was just people playing an innocent prank..nothing was told that hurt anyone at all..and their accents were terrible. It was funny. It's just too bad that the sweet nurse got caught in the middle of the tsunami of media interest and public backlash and in my opinion it's appalling that the hospital didn't recognize sooner that she was having trouble with it and give her the kind of support she needed. Seems to me she was left alone to deal with most of the fallout and faded fast. Why was this not seen? why did no one at the hospital have a clue? because they were dealing with the media and had forgotten about the one crucial element to the entire story...Jacintha.

don't blame the DJ's because you forgot to take care of her or notice she was in trouble. and don't blame the DJ's for the media jumping on this and broadcasting it all over the world...and don't blame the DJ's for all of the thousands of smart ass comments that were posted about Jacintha before she killed herself.

That was you.

think about jumping on the snark bandwagon next time someone makes a mistake...you never know when it could be your mistake that is broadcast around the world for everyone to comment on.

and think about jumping on the snark bandwagon right NOW with the DJ's. look at their faces...look into their eyes. they are crushed by this.

leave it be. enough.

It's not the size of the skyscraper that counts....

http://nbcpolitics.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/07/15/12753063-can-us-economy-tolerate-a-tax-increase-in-2013?

A couple of days ago I read an article that read "Can the US economy tolerate a tax increase in 2013?"
I almost passed it, because during this time of year there's so much politicrap out there your brain might spontaneously combust if you take in more than your R.D.A. of politics; like the constant IV drip sort of streaming we are seeing from the media currently and will until the contest is over, and actually..months after......
hm.
 ok it never stops.

but my brain thought...you know, I wonder what the amount of tax we are actually talking about is. Not projections, not speculation, but in reality. I wonder if it's equivalent to everyone pitching in $100 (or $20 or $5) more this year....or something like $2 a day. Of course we don't get it explained in such relative terms to us usually, so we try to decipher the information we are given, usually unsuccessfully, about what a 'tax raise' would actually mean.
In fact, people hear the word tax raise and often go up in arms before even hearing another word. Imagine a public servant on the steps of a building about to address a mob of angry misinformed people below; "tax raise..."
"arrrrggghhhhhhhh *slaughter* mayhem* destruction" as a bloodied man tries to squeak out "..s are unacceptable... on... any.. terms" and then he'd die and everyone would look around at each other like ...hmm...damn.

 So! I wondered...as I often do...what would it mean?

Would it mean they would have to give up the equivalent of less than 1 quarter or a jar of fancy nail polish?
Or one less coffee or high end scotch a day or one les glass a week of that uber expensive pinot gris? Perhaps one less pair of shoes?
Would they really feel that deprived or would they just make up the money somewhere else?
Literally...can anyone tell me? Would it mean one less hair extension or fake breast? Or one less hair plug or golf game a year. Hm. There's no way it could cost even that much...

Yes...I'm sure they are not even asking as much help from you as one golf game at your favorite course. and ok, even if it is...I'm sure I could make it relative to something equally materialistic and not truly important or something they would actually not even miss, PLUS it would help OUR country....and the rest of us can't really help.

(and by the way, this kind of stuff: http://marketday.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/07/18/12793197-big-bonuses-seen-leading-to-current-wall-street-scandals?lite
is the kind of stuff that makes it hard for us 'regular people' to not roll our eyes when you talk about protecting big business.)

We'd love to help though. I swear we would. I bet a bunch of us dream about how we'd help if we could and I'm sure, if any of us ever have the opportunity to live with great hoards of money, many of us will remember how easy it is to make a huge change with a little money if people do it together, with intention of a particular goal.

Anyway...back to the point. (yes, there is one)

I read the following quote in this article I mentioned at some point.

“We're not talking about giving tax cuts to anyone. All we're asking is don't raise taxes on all Americans, and especially don't raise taxes on the people who create the business."

and the first thought I had was OH you mean all those big businesses that are OUTSOURCING ALL OF THEIR JOBS? you mean the ones that have thousands of people employed in other countries where they can pay them meager pay and reap the profits? ohhhh right. let's protect those guys.

wait...no. let's SPANK those guys with a big. fat. tax. for not creating jobs IN AMERICA. Also, I say you are not allowed to call yourself 'an american company' if you are producing, shipping, creating jobs and paying for real estate to do all of this IN ANOTHER COUNTRY. No. Bad corp. That's just BS. From now on the people that should get the most benefits are the ones that do the most HERE. They create from the US of A....creating jobs from all sorts of angles, just by keeping it here.

And my second thought brought me to a new perspective on business...
So I wanted to say Mr Kyl...
I would like you to consider how potentially insulting this is to the average small businessman in America; but more than that...why. Why it is insulting? I want you to care..don't just say "oh everyone gets insulted at one thing or another" and shrug and blow it off. LISTEN TO THE WHY>

See, it sounds like you are saying the many many jobs that little business create don't count...they are small and not financially viable or effective...so they obviously aren't considered in your big picture of who needs to pay more and who is creating jobs.

But actually, those little guys? They are the guys keeping us alive.

They are the ones that, if they didn't exist, whole towns just vanish....ghost towns...remnants of previously successful places that just couldn't keep going when the bigger, better funded place moved in downtown and skewed all the prices. Granted, there are gigantic offices full of hundreds of thousands of people, I know.

But Mr Kyl, there is so much more to America than the kind of bustling city businesses you are talking about. It's not just about the size of the skyscraper, Mr. Kyl. In reality, most of America lives in smaller towns or cities....or we live out in the country or forest or wider open spaces.

So for us...the big business guy really doesn't do anything but cause a problem. For us, it is they who should not be given such great importance to, as they really do nothing but shut things down...but they are spoken of by people such as yourself as if they are the very lifeblood of America. They build factories overseas and outsource jobs to other countries. They are not creating jobs HERE.

If you support only the big businesses; the kind that the Obama administration is asking to pitch in more to keep things moving; and the kind you are talking about protecting, you lose the little guys that are the real cogs in the wheel. I've seen it happen, when Wal-Mart came to town and nearly 60% of all small businesses in the town had to close their doors..charming booksellers, toy stores, clothing stores, a staple of the community drug store that had been there for decades...all gone now.
How did that big business help this town with jobs?

And more importantly than that -
How do you think those people felt about closing their own successful businesses to consider putting on a polyester wal mart uniform and listen to people protect 'big business'?

Now, I figure, if businesses, or Very Wealthy People, truly want to help; then what does it matter if the help is done by paying more taxes so more little guys get to stay in business? (which also helps the economy and jobs and morale of the country)
Or do they just get to proclaim "they make the most jobs, regardless of what they are or what they pay, so they get to do what they want" with voting power like individuals, while we watch them get richer and bigger while more little guys, and their investments and finances time and employees and growth, vanish.

Soon you have an empty building to fill and a new potential foreclosure happening. Way to go guys.

America needs the type of people that see past supporting only wealthy, large, business creators to give the little guy a shot a staying alive...the kind of places America was built on and actually keep our economy moving in small towns, rural areas, and even mid size towns and cities...

These are the little business that truly stimulate local economy and employment, not just corporate giants that have big box stores or enough cash to open up a line of stores anywhere they choose. These are the little guys.

Take a walk in an older part of your town.
One that has charm and a large variety of stores in a small community area.
Have you even been to a real butcher? Or a bread maker? Or a doll hospital or a shoemaker or a small artists gallery? We have some of these in Old Colorado City and Manitou Springs and if a big corporation came in to swallow up those little shops you can bet WE the PEOPLE would fight to send them on their way and leave us be.

Think about whatever small shop it is you visit (or if you don't, one you did when you were a child or heard about or used to drive by every day and wonder about) and love the atmosphere of...is it a tea house? a candy shop? a book store? a small dessert shop? Not so big...only 3 or 4 employees...but if those pastries and donuts didn't exist you weren't sure you'd be able to face the rest of the Mondays in your life. All of these places might mean 100 jobs or so...but what would the town be without them?

These are the ones you are essentially shutting down and discrediting with statements like these. These are the guys that keep America moving....the middle to lower classs now....struggling to stay alive and keep our heads above water...wanting to grow...

wanting to be able to have some influence with the giant corporations that could be helping everyone but seem to only be interested in keeping themselves afloat and growing.

A monopoly, of course.......ah to be so wealthy. And imagine how boring our country would be with only the big guys...shipping everything overseas and telling us to be happy about it and keep buying from them because they are 'American'

So...save the little businesses...tell the big guys to help the little guys.

Be leaders and mentors - not corporate commandants with no vision of diversity or how we can all grow together.

Big Ass Corporations, do what's right. and people like Mr. Kyl?

THINK.

Idiot Burger King lettuce mauler posts photo on 4chan

Burger king guy with your boots in the lettuce......after you are fired and probably have some charges brought against you...and you sift through the ashes of your reputation after people figure out who you are and give you shit from here to the end of the earth for doing something like that....I wonder if anyone will ask you WHY?  And I wonder if you will answer.

That's what I always wonder when I read a report or hear a story like this.  WHY did you feel like you had to step in the lettuce.
Do you hate the type of people that would eat a cheeseburger?
Do you only hate the type of people that would eat a cheeseburger from Burger King?
Is it Burger King you are mad at and trying to make them lose customers?
Or are you just pissed you are working in a fast food restaurant wasting your potential?  I'm curious...seriously.
When I hear about someone spitting on somebody's food or god...worse....(and we've all heard those stories...come on) I think 'why in the hell would a person be angry enough to want to do that?'

Even when a customer pisses me off, and oh, they have; I have never ever considered sliding in a bodily fluid somehow with their order.  Not that I could, in the manner of retail I worked in...but still.  I just couldn't do that to somebody...it's so freaking nasty to imagine biting into a burger or taco or any type of food and find out that someone had been overly generous with you for some bizarre reason the probably couldn't logically explain when questioned by authorites.  Except to say "i was pissed off'

ah another case of 'i was pissed off so my stupidity and evil bullshit is warranted and justified'

um. no.

somebody needs to make this boy a burger, i'd say.........right after stepping on some of the ingredients for it. probably should video tape him eating the whooooole thing.  and then apologizing; not for being an idiot, because maybe that's out of your control...I don't know...but you should apologize for letting your stupid leak out all over other people.

enjoy your lunch!  oh...and when people figure out who you are?  i'd advise not eating out for awhile.......someone might think it's 'funny' to give you a little of what you gave for real.

be well wanderers  - back soon xx blackbird

On Wiener's Wiener

you see, the point is not whether or not you actually or metaphorically cheated or not

the point is, Mr. Wiener, that you LIED

you said you didn't, said you'd been hacked, said you were hiring a PI firm

but you LIED

you Mr. "I'm going to keep my job in the gov't because I didn't cheat."
you miss the point entirely. you should leave because you lied

and now that we know it, that you would lie with so much responsibility on your shoulders;
not only to your constituents
and despite your 'moral code'
but to the young people (and by young, I mean the age of the women you were sending ego pics to)
of our nation

to them, you are a liar, and you can't be trusted

so, be glad that your wife, if you are lucky, will be able to trust you again
but don't ask the people of the country to. you had your chance. you blew it

tough.

but hey, you could always look into a career in those online chat porn things, right?
I have a feeling you'd be a natural....... ;D

the sadrobe of blueness

happy new year!!!!!!!!
*boom chcka boom chka boom*
(there's music playing in my head like i've been possessed by the ghost of marilyn monroe)
(won't SHE be disappointed. hehehe)

how are you people?
i have no idea if i will actually write more than i did last year but that's what i intend do to. not a resolution.
did i say resolution? no. just a ....foggy goalish idea really.

i'm here not to talk about happiness and positivity, as is all the rage at the start of a new year; but to talk bout being sad.
i know there are alot of sad people out there right now.
and i mean everyone; from the dude who's just a little blue when he stops long enough to think about it, to the family that is misssing a loved one at the holidays, to...every little nuance of sadness that's out there.
and they keep on keepin on (me included folks)
you do what you need to do, keep a smile on your face...but you're still blue. what to do?

so- i decided -- just now which is what inspired this post -
you know what i think you should do?
instead of worrying about not being sad and how you shouldn't be sad?

embrace it. love your sadness up.

make a sadness robe that had sadness colors or maybe patterns or images put on fabric that either represent some of the events that were particularly sad moments and when you wear it you can like...make hot cocoa and watch a movie and hug yourself a lot (and your robe and all those moments)

and maybe you'll put on sad music and dance around and sing in your sadrobe of blueness and when you feel a little better you can put her away again with a hug and smile.

AND maybe you'll add stuff to her over the years - sort of a work of love in progress and a bit of reverse psychology on your sadness

what do you think?

if i knew how to sew i would make one - and spike my hot chocolate

hey hey 2011~~let's rock n roll beyotch

knock it the hell off with the ad blitz youtube

alright youtube. that's e-fucking-nough already

i mean - i get that you grew too big for your britches. i get that you were created by a little fish that suddenly found themselves in a pond with piranhas and sold out to let them deal with the headache. i'd have done the same

you stayed pretty much the same but as peoples egos caught on and the lure of instant fame grew the growing pains started -

first - a few ads here and there...on the sidebar...at the bottom the screen
then came the ever present and HUGE movie trailer on the main page
then i noticed vevo getting more and more music videos - good for a bit
now vevo feels like big brother somehow
MORE IMPORTANTLY - NOW, youtube, you've got freaking ads between every single freaking video on every single playlist. and not a variety of ads. oh no. that would be too thoughtful - instead lets drive it into their minds like brainwashing for idiots

the same fucking commercial. over and over and over and over and over
the viking was ready to break the computer.

calm down, i said - i'd read about some youtube commercial blocker somewhere in the past week and decided to go find it. how very nice of firefox to come up with an add on for that. i can't remember the name and neither can the viking but it was something snappy. anyway it works, but forget streaming videos. can't just start a playlist and get to work unfettered. we are now being punished for our tenacity and determination not to have that add - or any ad - force fed to us ever again

so they'll make it a pain in the ass to use youtube and eventually get rid of us to pay us back for chucking the commercial brainwashing

i can't believe of the marketing world has taken the net by storm in the last 2 years. yeah yeah it's always been there. but i was on the net when it was an apple in your tech dude's virtual eye and stuff like IM or youtube or twatter or any of it existed. (and we had to walk barefoot 6 miles to get to a computer that took way too long to change sites)(and we liked it)

the point is..it's out of control people. and we just let em

go ahead...take over every site, every show, every social networking place
tell me to buy your female products and shoes and cars
just like on tv. pretty soon you couldn't watch a show without 4 8 minute interruptions and a football game of 2 hours took 4. what a joke. now you can't watch a show on hulu without the same
but hey, i can take it -
took it all my life didn't i

up until the constant commercials and hateful shock value news drove me to quit tv for 5 or 6 years. got it back this year due to teenage bribery. and feeling like i was messing with their minds somehow for them to not know what family guy and ...other ...random ..nonsense, was all about. let them fit in a little better by knowing. anyway. that is another story. i still don't watch the tv....and...

the net is mine dammit. (not in the al gore way...more in a creepy lurker kind of way) it's my freedom and solace and my choice of what i see for news. my choice. that's the point - isn't it. the net is about having so much control at your fingertips. now it's dissolving on the net.

and the marketing genius' at youtube decide that the world will not be right until we are all gagging to death on insurance commercials right before the holidays

thanks youtube guys. you've stolen another piece of what was the peoples and gave it to the exploiters

cheers

now i have to listen to pandora

walking around blind

i do this
all the time. i don't MEAN to walk around blind - i always told myself i would never be one of 'those' people. and yet i find myself in various stages of waking up. or opening my eyes again and seeing something that has been sitting there for weeks

i'm not waxing poetic. i mean literally. i have not even looked at these freaking pictures of myself and the kids in weeks. i've glanced in their general direction. i'm aware of them in my peripheral.....but, i just noticed, about how long has it been since i've reallly seen them?

sometimes there will be a pile of Random Stuff on the stella table. (it is a butcher block a beer distributor who owed me a favor and knew i loved stella and gave it to me) hence the name 'stella table.'

shit - the coffee is done. brb. it's an old fashioned camping coffee percolator....thing

(we got sick of buying cheap ass coffee makers that break within a month or so. or people give them to goodwill apparantly thinking, well, this is a piece of shit i don't want to deal with but maybe some poor person will have latent electronic coffee machine repairperson skills and will be able to use this. if they aren't too lazy. SO for over a year now we've been using the trusty ol' grandpa and grandma's metal cookstove/camping percolator pot. and it tastes pretty damn good. not quite as convenient...but then all that is convenient is not quality. laughs)

ok!! on with the show. heh.

back to the stella table (beer not rocky)
so this pile was there, right? and it kept building. now...i have 4 kids. 4, 11, 13, 14. 3 boys. nothing on the table is mine so i keep walking past it. am i aware the pile is growing? vaguely, yes...
am i aware that it now appears to include trash and at least one unclaimed shoe? hmmm. maaaaybe. this can go on for months, hypothetically.
then all of a sudden one day when i'm feeling particularly bright and shiny, i suddenly 'see' the table. without giving it a thought i swirl in like the master of efficiency and productivity i am and have that table and all of its random contents that everyone was ignoring, put away and shining like a little beacon of 'please pile stuff on me again'

as if it was no problem!! ha!! begone little piled table, little pile of dust, unclean house, projects not finished, chores not done - avaunt ye!!!
(ha.) - and i wonder to myself, why ever was i avoiding that so? it was so not a big deal and look how easy it was and so much better!! why don't you just go tackle every little annoying pile that your avoiding!! and off i go with renewed vigor thinking 'well come on, you always knew you were invincible..just get on with it' as if i knew it all along. pfiffle.

i knew it was like a looming goblin there...dark and piled and annoying.
i would sneak around it and refuse to really look at it, as if not looking at it would somehow make it dissappear without my needing to intervene and deal with it. and then suddenly, everything is clear! the birds are singing, you notice sunlight and clean up a whole bunch of stuff again and start to get back on track like the wonder woman you knew was in there...

until you find yourself in one of these stages of waking up
and realize you've dozed off on your own life again.

i do wonder about that dead zone
the one where you're awake but your not
aware but not really
interacting and in control in your imagination
but in reality sort of a ghost in your own life

is it the quiet secret breaking of a heart
is it an illness that no one would hear
is it just never being able to really get up
after being knocked down too many times
is it dissillusionment
or just...apathy

why do we disconnect
where do we go
why is it so hard to remember

knight and day is a rockin movie

i've never been a big cruise fan - never had a crush on him

...
ok..well, when he was in legend he was supercute albeit a little stiff. and in top gun he was great~

and after that i saw him in movies from time to time and even found myself not wanting to see his flicks because of a percieved idea of a huge ego he was sporting. and then there was the whole couch thing which didn't go well for him...and scientology rants, which...is a whole other topic

BUT THIS MOVIE ROCKS PEOPLE> i'm telling you what. they kick ass - and they have their personalities so perfectly nailed. i totally %100 enjoyed it...and i haven't said that about an action flick in ...oh....10 years? seriously. they are all predictable or totally overdone in the special effects aspect, as well as a lack of a good solid story or connected characters. imho, of course.

and shut up about tom being old. dude, your body rocked and the fact that you did your own stunts is totally amazing. i admire his desire to push the limits. and cameron looked so hot that i wistfully remembered the potential my body had before 4 csections...she's only a year younger than me!!! holy crap!!! woman, you are a goddess. and i truly enjoyed your complex airy but supersmart and clever and goofy but ass kicking ninja warrior vibe. you guys are an inspiration to our generation.

so. that's all. i had to get it off my chest. i keep reading bad reviews for this movie and i felt it was my public duty to inform you that if you are looking for entertainment - go see it. it's worth it.

that's all

yeah i know

but again, i'm not here for you so stop being so vain

i just read this article about a little 6 yr old girl that died of brain cancer and how, in the last 255 days of her life she managed to hide now 3 containers full of notes of love for her mom, dad, and little sister all over the house....
they say they didn't know she knew she was dying - but obviously she had written these with intent....they are hidden everywhere and done with intent

made me cry:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/33505351/ns/today-today_books/

so i've been thinking about the great beyond lately and how life can change in the blink of an eye....and i've decided that is a great idea

not on a morbid i'm doomed trip
but more like....aware of life's fleeting changes and just in chase i would like to hide some notes like that for people in my family

hopefully, they will remain hidden long enough for me to forget i even hid them....or they show up and we laugh about them at my 92nd birthday party...
but if not? maybe someone will get a special smile and laugh and bit of love from beyond that i left tucked somewhere

like that very special, very wise, young girl

hope all is well in your worlds

i miss writing

you know i read my posts and i think....you are a really cool writer
i mean it! you are! you've got a voice and a command of the language that...in my eyes anyway....is thought provoking and curious and clever

and i think of how i really really MISS writing..and don't know why i don't do it more often

part of it is the whole sheeple theory
i hate that it's a fad
i hate that i care about, now that it's become cool and we are in some sort of invisible blogging popularity contest, whether or not anyone reads or why no one comments. it used to be a journal...now it's an entertainment competition

anyway....enough griping
i miss writing...not bitching

moving is always cathartic don't you think?
you shift everything....everything gets reorganized or cleaned or both
there is an unsettling someone kicked up all the dust around you energy but still you sit somehow...calm...in the middle of the storm
forseeing how it will look in a month rather than the chaos you observe

ever have the feeling like you're totally throwing all the eggs into one basket? that's not totally sturdy or watertight?

yeah...that's me at the moment
i believe in this house...and the lineup of events that had to happen in order for me to achieve it
but still i feel a flux in the works
something i don't yet see.....

wonder what it is

i posted a self portrait this week on etsy.........tired momma
the quote said (and is the basis for my belief system, even if i can't always undertand it)....
change is the only constant

my added thoughts?
receive it and let it go

ah if only it was that simple
my mind swarms with a million new paths..new possiblities...new futures...a better understanding of what's to come....

it's like i get that i was supposed to create people like i am to walk the planet...but my time for myself is coming again in the next few years and i can feel my spirit gearing up for it already

anyone else ever experience this?

a new day

so it's arrived

barack obama is president of the united states....hope has returned to the downtrodden and struggling

even the rich and solid i think felt a wave of patriotism today...of a common bond and love between the people of OUR nation. all of us as one force.....looking out for and helping one another

it was something else to watch that sea of people waving...rising ....pulling...the energy of their moving arms and smiling faces and voices raised in joy and praise and love for america...and what barack has seemingly brought to us

not only us, i thought, as i watched this. for across the world....there were people watching. governments, hospitals, military, people, poor and rich alike.....watching america re-evolve

that had to have been hard for bush to watch...........knowing that barack will succeed where he failed. in being a people's president. that he is already, less than an hour on the official job..more loved that he may have been his whole presidency

bush was not my favorite person during the last eight years....but he did what he could. and what he thought was right.
anyway i think he meant well overall....so to hear everyone booing and singing hey hey hey...good bye...as he walked out kind of sucked

i winced for him and even in my frustration with him i felt for him and was proud of his ability to walk out upon that crowd of tens of thousands of people with pride and hold his head high

what i took with me....more than anything and for the first time
is a better feeling for the stuff we are made of and why people choose america...as obama put it

But those values upon which our success depends — hard work and honesty, courage and fair play, tolerance and curiosity, loyalty and patriotism — these things are old.

HARD WORK
HONESTY
COURAGE
FAIRPLAY
TOLERANCE
CURIOSITY
LOYALTY
PATRIOTISM

these things i will post on my wall to remind me
to remind and teach my children

this is why i call myself an american
and why we will survive

because not only are we built of the best stuff...but we are the best stuff from all over the world

we combine our uniqueness and our talents and knowledge and wisdom ...HERE..in this melting pot

our diversity only makes us stronger and that much more able to affect the world

so good luck to us all

and i close with love to my countrymen and the world and our new president

be well nomads
to yourself and others..

sign of the times...focus on what's right, instead of what's wrong

hello to anyone lurking around today

i am posting today a message i just put in the forums in my beloved site that began as a discussion about the government and how much everyone is struggling financially and what the stress is doing to all of us

do you all see......can you feel it
the tension in the air...the sense that something might snap at any second
whether it's you or the post office guy or your mom?

we're tearing each other apart and we need to stop...and look at it from another angle. we need to look at each other and say..here, this is what i have, this is what i can do...what can i do for you to help you today?

i have a friend who is a goddess of giving. when she is in her worst places...where you feel like you've no choice and no power...
she looks around and finds one thing she CAN do.

she has no money coming in, no work, but by god she can get her house immaculately clean and give me 3 hours to myself without my smallest member of my herd.

do THAT. today. make it a point. begin this weekend with something you can do. ok...i can't do this.....but i CAN do this.

and read what i wrote in the thread about loving each other
it's important whether you think it's lame or not.

************

oh you guys..this thread is so packed full of emotion and pain. i'm not a group hugger type o gal but i was just overwhelmed by the feeling as i read all of these pages that i wish i could just wrap my arms around all of us

let's not turn on each other in all of this

i just realized...my friends and i have been joking that everyone..from work to family to message boards to the world...seems to be pms'ing …and we’ve been musing about what the hell is going on with people...
this is it!! *seems like a stupid aha moment…but has anyone else been going …DAMN why’s everybody so snarky lately?* the tension from this whole situation and it's world wide trickle down has the vibe of the planet all wacked out

and here we all are...scared, frustrated, angry, struggling, trying to put on a positive face but just under the surface we're raw and ready to scrap and yell and not listen..or hear each other

fow is right...the gov't and the banks and the bigshots got us in this place. now we're all screwed up and it's literally affected the whole planet's economy and energy and they are (many of them) still sitting pretty while we scramble

we need to love each other and lock arms and get ourselves outta this mess because they sure as hell aren't going to. And remember it’s not just the Americans ---I have friends in Holland and the uk watching and experiencing the same.

now i understand...what my friend was saying how by 2010 we will need to be able to relearn how to be self sufficient and be able to survive in a 10 - 20 mile radius off of our own resources. we will have to all help each other get by. it's already starting

love each other *hears kum baya in the background* we the people, the human race, need to actually look out for each other for real for awhile…go easy on each other. Speak more gently…see with kinder eyes

i just had to get help from the govt. this week...but i look forward to my lease being up in a couple of months...downsizing my rent and living space and making serious vegetable garden. think about getting a chicken or two. talk to the dude up the road that sells meat. two of my friends and i talked about a large property here in town with 5 small old cabins on it and how communal living maybe isn't so far fetched. we've both been laid off in the last month and we have 4 kids, one of them hasn't been able to find work for 3 months and the other just had her work reduced to 3 days a week.

I had to get help for Christmas dinner…is it hard to post this? You bet your ass. I’m proud and tough and I work hard. But you know what I did? I stayed there for hours and unloaded and loaded cars for other people needing help. I watched teachers and parents dropping off food and gifts…watched the 6 women buzz around that community cupboard and move and shake our little worlds….(I love you cindy) and a friend and I offered to drive boxes of food to the elderly if they didn’t have enough people to drive.
I helped as I needed help and they balanced each other. I loved the people there and they loved me…the positive energy in there was amazing…not guilt..not shame….just…let’s help each other get through this

Damn
I’ve gone on long enough. Sorry to have been so long winded
If I offended someone somehow with this post I didn’t mean to
I was just overwhelmed with emotion and wanted to make some sort of plea
Even it’s it’s cheese ball sounding

Thanks for reading though
I’m gonna go shower now and try, again, to shake it off and restart. To make somebody laugh. To create something…to tell people I love them
Go have a great day…

(((((Hugs))))

hmm that was almost a week

well well well
i managed to make it back this way within a week
amazing

3 short musings as i must work
*here at home, of course, in my pj's*

one..what's up with the new revival of pasties? and who knew they'd actually be kinda hot? not that i'd wear them. *ahem* perhaps after some more time to work off the children...but really..

do chicks really buy these and what...walk around the house in them? swing their boobs around and see if they can get them in sync? i mean..they DO look sexy. don't get me wrong. i think they are actually an enhancement for the lovely ladies not quite so ...robustly endowed as others
but aren't they a little like those elephant underwear for guys...more of a gag gift thing?

i wonder. poll please MEN
would pasties actually be a hot turnon?
or more something to laugh about?

now this site...graciously shown to me by the freakin awesome people at etsy after dark...is sexy as hell
the pics are awesome
the girls are hot and totally amazing and don't even look real
http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5160005

but..come on
she's got a crazy headpiece
and is in a tree.

seriously?
wwywd & wibhisdi lmao
(what would your woman do)(and would it be hot if she did it)

ok musing 2
i'm totally lost
i was just on a page and at the bottom i saw links to twiter, delicious, stumbleupon, facebook....there's myspace and flckr and who knows what all else is out there

i'm not old. i'm 37 years young. and i'm pretty frisky...AND i've always been good at the net and boards and so on. so WHY does all of this seem so daunting? will someone give me some info please. what the hell is stumbleupon and delicious GOOD FOR? what is the point. yes. i've read about them and visited the sites. i've looked at twitter

i just
don't
get it

how can everybody spend all this time all the time on this stuff? somedays i feel like my brain is going to explode and it's all i can do to manage my online store
( http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5846638 ) and blog here every once in awhile

sign o' the times i guess
enough bitching woman sheesh

musing 3

*drum roll*

i'm going to change the freaking awesome artist of the week. maybe tonight. probably tomorrow

so gaze, while you can...on my evil crow gatekeeper and go visit
gothiccrow on etsy.com whenever you please. i'll be keeping my crow around for a bit methinks...but i'll let him wander somwhere else in the nest

*side note* i think it's actually so odd and funny (read below somwhere and you will understand why) that i am actually writing as if anyone READS it.
that's allright. there's an audience in my head and they LOVE me.
standing ovation going on in there on most occasions *grins*

freakin awesome artist of the week

hm
i may try this weekly
i may not
either way the days i DO do it will be great, indeed

the very first freakin awesome artist of the day is
(drum roll)

Gothic Images by gothiccrow on etsy.com
and out of New York

http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5151388

you'd have to be into this sort of image i suppose
but even if you're not they will stir a reaction in you...promise.
and if you know crows and ravens - if you've ever found them haunting and eerily powerful- you will be amazed at the photos and images this artist has captured

they almost seem posed...some are so perfect for the meaning and moment. but you can't pose crows
laughs
that rhymed!
and ravens only do what they want
they do seem to beckon though don't they

her artwork also has a special feeling/appearance to it because of THIS:
PAPER DESCRIPTIONS:
The Metallic paper uses a patented combination of film and laminate layers that result in striking, high gloss, three-dimensional, images on an ultra-bright background.

The Kodak Endura paper has accurate color, excellent neutral flesh reproduction with brighter blues, cyans, purples, and reds with a satin appearance and feel.

The canvas sheets are textured giving the appearance of textured art"

cool eh?
"

because she is freaking awesome,
she's also told me i can use one of her pics on my blog here because i adore it and he seems to me to be a brooding gatekeeper

watch your step
*chuckles*

great prices, priceless images
check her out

new freakin awesome person next week
if you're lucky

new day

ok so
good morning!

let's be all shiny today, shall we?
so far, the day has gone well...
i woke up...yelled at myself to just make up my frigging mind...decided to break a bunch of commitments which suprisingly was very liberating
(thank you sark)
and decided to take a chance on a whim which may very well prove to be much more stressful than i dare take on buuuuuuut

what the hell

if i died monday would i be pissed i didn't go this weekend?
yeah. if nothing else to witness an actual body painter...which i imagine will be very cool

AND i might get contracted to paint the entire inside of a small art haus
AND i will get to get a break from being momma and be jen here and there
AND i will most likely have a drink or 5 and smoke too many cigarettes

which is good on 2 levels
1 - i could give a shit mode i'm having a night off
which everyone needs once in awhile
and 2 - reality check the next day where you are thankful for being out of that phase but you really can FEEL you stepped away from the little box called life and blew out the sides a bit

is that an odd way to weigh your options...if i died tomorrow...what would i think about this or that
hm
well i do think that way...often
almost every time i guess come to think of it

how about you?

return to the inn? or etsy strikes again

alright....well

it's been a long long while
in fact..it's been a long while since i was even a steady blogger
i have a long lost website somewhere that is jam packed full of things you'd rather not hear but it was on 02-04/05 thing

i've painted 1400 square feet of murals since my last post here i just realized
i suppose that's a good excuse for not being here

and opened our store on etsy.com....
(twistedtreestudio. GO there. NOW. you have no idea what cool things you just missed out on to buy because someone beat you to it)
which is an amazing place full of amazing artisians of all kinds from all over the world and i'm totally obsessed. etsysessed
ok maybe not totally but i spend way too much time there

of course i'm marketing or promoting or looking at how other people are successful on the site ...little bit of forums...
but still

yeah but i used to go to all those bullshit sites just to waste time...then i tried to transfer to places on here like look at this and dark roasted blend...not sure if bits and pieces is here...
now first thing i do is go to etsy and check what stats i can see...

but
today is one of those days that is a small constant headache in the back of your head...and four irritable children are like fingernails on a chalkboard. so me not in no mood to write

and i'm also skeptical cuz i never wanted to blog to an audience
i just wanted to blog....free of care of who was reading

now that i'm trying to kick start this cuz so many people on etsy say it's a good way to network

but i'm not going to be all professional and prim and proper here
this is my inn
haven for the raven
i'll still say what i damn well please
and if you don't like it well i'm sure you know where the door is

in the mean time great to see you!! i hope to post more often and with much more humor than today real soon!!

oh and by the way check out all our freakin awesome art

i will be adding people who are also freakin awesome
please check back

be well wanderers
